Finding Natural Treatments For Tinnitus

Ringing in the ears or dizziness, headache, and pain or sense of fullness in the ear can all be symptoms of an ailment called tinnitus.  Of course there are many kinds of medications, surgery, and therapies.  What if you don’t want to try them?  What if you’d rather find a natural treatment for ringing ears tinnitus?  Well, maybe you can.

Some natural treatments for tinnitus are based on foods.  Some say you shouldn’t partake of chocolate, caffeine, or alcohol.  You should have a low sodium diet for sure.  But there are also other foods that have been known to help.  Eating sesame seeds has been used for centuries by the Chinese and others as a natural tinnitus treatment.  Eating foods rich in zinc may help.  Spinach is the best, but Brussels sprouts, cucumbers, asparagus, papaya, and prunes, among others, are good, too.

Teas are also popular as natural treatments for tinnitus.  Drinking a tea brewed from sunflower seed hulls may be effective.  There is also a tea call fenugreek seed tea.  It is recommended that this be used three times a day.  Mistletoe tea is used to increase blood circulation.

Putting something in the ear or ears is another type of natural treatment for tinnitus.  One idea is to put a few drops of castor oil in the ear and then put in a cotton ball.  Another remedy uses onion juice.

If buildup of ear wax is a problem, then ear candling is a possible solution.  It is an old home remedy where a conical candle is used to extract ear wax and other unwanted matter from your ear canal.  The candle is placed point side down into the canal and then lit.  This causes a suction which pulls offending matter from your ears.  It can be used as a natural treatment for tinnitus.

Essential oils can be used, either in the ears or massaged on the head, or as aromatherapy.  Some of these are rose, lemon, rosemary, and cypress.  These are thought to stimulate the circulatory system and the hearing apparatus of the ear.

The B-complex vitamins have been shown to be helpful in reducing tinnitus.  B-1, B-6, and B-12 all stabilize the nervous system, especially that of the inner ear.  Vitamins A and C are also helpful.  Minerals are used as well, including magnesium and potassium.

There are a multitude of natural treatments for tinnitus.  The foods we eat and the vitamins and minerals we take in can make a difference.  There are other more unusual natural treatments for tinnitus, but only you can decide which is right for you.
